A HOLIDAY TALE FROM FINESMITH

Yula called this one Holiday Tale after the delightful tale she wrote about it. I hope you enjoy.

Here is Yula's Holiday Tale:

Her looks were silk, and her whole being sensuality. The men would look in admiration and the town women said she was the daughter of the devil in hateful jealousy. No one knew the story that one day would become known.

The Holiday Tale started and ended on one day of the year—a day that all of them seem to celebrate. The day was that of her birth. It was that day that she was looking through the window calling to her long lost love, growing thorns around her neck, eyes and ears. One thorn grew every year that passed by without him. Every year she stayed young, but her heart grew old and tired. It was that day that the old witch cast a spell on her heart and body, "Forever stay young, forever heart broken and the man who will try to touch you will bleed by your thorns."

The piano was playing in her head, her dreams would not let go, and the sorrow prevented her from making a sound or saying a word. Yet she knew or thought that perhaps this is why she is silent...

...one day the truth would be heard in all of the villages around and and maybe a cure would be found to mend her broken soul, but not this year. As we celebrate by drinking another bottle of wine, she will be lonely looking through the window and thinking how it would be to be alive outside of this window, outside of this frame, a real human/avatar and not only a captured image.

Yula says that her creative writing teacher used to say she screwed it all up in the last sentence because she had to make some ridiculous joke. Yula used to reply, "Wellllll, I'm not writing the Bible, it's just a story."

2012 FINESMITH MUSE WINNER

Sunday the 2012 FineSmith Muse was named. It could not possibly have been an easy decision for the judges because the models were truly amazing. See their photos at the FineSmith Flickr here. Below are photos of the inspiring model who won, Miss Shinobu Istmal.

Each model was asked to tell about the inspiration for the outfit chosen. Here is Shinobu's story:

Shinobu’s inspiration came from a scene from "The Country of Gold and Silver," a story she wrote.

A long, long time ago, there were a Gold Nation and a Silver Nation, and the two countries were constantly at war. Today is the day that celebrates the unity of these two nations that was only made possible by the love of two people who were born in these two nations who were brought together by fate.

The Queen's dress is an amazingly beautiful gown made with gold thread that came from the Gold Nation and silver thread that came from the Silver Nation. Let us celebrate this day, reconfirming how happiness can only come from unity.

I love long fingernails in SL—they don't chip or break and you can take them off and put on new ones in the blink of a virtual eye. Yula has new sets out that are perfect for the long, cold winter months. They are lovely colors and each set has a snowflake ring. They are only 55L per color today from 7:00 a.m. SLT until Friday at 7:00 a.m. SLT. (Although Yula has been known to leave them at that price for a bit longer, don't count on it.) FINESMITH IN SECOND LIFE MARKETPLACE

I don't know about you, but I have so much Finesmith jewelry, that I don't remember it all. That may be because I have a terrible memory and can't recall names—in my next life, I'm going to have more memory installed—but I'm in this life, and when I need a piece of jewelry and can't think of what I want, I go over to the Finesmith Store and browse. (Sorry for the really long sentence.) I go to the Finesmith Flickr and browse. But now I can go to SL Marketplace and brows in the Finesmith SL Marketplace Store. Yula doesn't have everything in there yet, but she's getting there. If you want to browse in the comfort of your own home, you can open the store and have a look, maybe buy a piece or send a gift to a friend.

WINTER FLOWER AT FINESMITH
